Norman Douglas West

He was born in Sampson County, NC on December 14, 1938 to Otho Leon West, Sr. and Mattielee Cook West. He was a 1957 graduate of Plain View High School in Dunn, NC and retired from Columbia Beauty Supply, Inc. as a sales consultant.

He was a member of Horsepasture Christian Church since 1974, where he had served on the Board of Deacons, Mission’s Committee and was a member of the young men’s Sunday school class.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Handy West.

He is survived by his wife, Rosa Turlington West of the residence; two sons, Norman D. West, Jr. and wife Carrie of Winston-Salem, NC, Eric West and wife, Angela of Waxhaw, NC, four grandchildren, Jordan West, Garrett West, Rebecca West and Mitchell West; one sister, Ruth West Bryant of Dunn, NC; one brother, Otho L. West, Jr. of Charlotte, NC; one sister-in-law, Shirley Willis West of Dunn, NC.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday at Horsepasture Christian Church from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. and other times at the residence.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 22, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at Horsepasture Christian Church with Minister Dave Cuthbertson and Minister Brandon Beauchamp officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Horsepasture Christian Church Building Fund, 1146 Horsepasture Price Road, Ridgeway, VA 24148.
