Peggy Martin Farrar

Peggy Love Martin Farrar, 59 of Martinsville, Virginia, passed away December 8, 2015 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center after a courageous battle with leukemia. She was born November 1, 1956 in Danville, Virginia to Mamie Love Allen Martin and the late John Green Martin, Jr.

Peggy was predeceased by her father and her son, Jonas Anthony Farrar.

In addition to her mother, Peggy leaves her loving daughter, Katelyn F. Rogers and son-in-law, Zachery of Charlotte, NC, two sisters and brothers-in-law Carol and Kurt Merchant of Martinsville, and Susan and Ricky Dawson of Bassett, her aunt Helen Moore of Martinsville, and her uncle Steve Allen of South Boston. Several treasured nieces and nephews, along with many special friends, will forever cherish her memory.

She was a member of Starling Avenue Baptist Church where she dedicated her time and talents to the Community Meal ministry and the Community Garden. A special joy was playing with the church hand bell choir. Peggy will be remembered for her willingness to volunteer and her genuine compassion for others.

A memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 14, 2015 at Starling Avenue Baptist Church with Rev. Susan Spangenberg officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the Church and at other times at the Merchant home.
