

Robert Marvin Turner, 90, of Ridgeway, died Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at Blue Ridge Rehab Center in Martinsville. He was born in Henry County, June 27, 1921 to Sidney and Ora Mason Turner. He served in the Army during WW II in Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe. He retired from American Furniture Company.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Bonnie T. Schelling; two grandsons, Doug Rakes and Jason Stegall; a sister, Myrtle T. Lewis; two brothers, Coy and Bennie Turner.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Lois Gilley Turner of the residence; three daughters, Audrey Sawyer of Arlington, Texas; Deborah Rakes of Ridgeway and Linda Stegall of Martinsville; three sisters, Carlene T. Howell of Bassett, Ruth T. Crump and Jewel T. Wilensky both of Richmond; two brothers, Lindsey Turner and Bobby Turner, both of Bassett; seven grandchildren, Candace Roark, Tim Hurd, Tammy Wells, Gary Rakes, Jeff Stegall, Chris Rakes; and eleven great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held Sunday, February 26, 2012 at 2:00 PM at McKee-Stone Funeral Home in Martinsville with Pastor Leonard Manuel and Pastor Sidney Turner officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Burial Park with military honors by the Martinsville-Henry County Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends Sunday, beginning at 1:00 PM prior to the funeral service, and other times at the home of Deborah Rakes, 110 Beechnut Lane, Ridgeway, VA 24148.
