

He was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather: Edith Hennis Kellam and Will S. Kellam. He is survived by his wife, Brenda Fain Hennis, his daughter, Laura H. Rhoads, two granddaughters: Naomi and Carson, two aunts: Bessie H. Pratt and Doris H. Shelton and many dearly loved cousins.
Ron was a graduate of Lynchburg College, where he played baseball, and received his Masters Degree from James Madison University. He served as a teacher, coach, athletic director and assistant principal in Waynesboro City Schools from 1968-2001. He was the co-founder of Waynesboro Alternative Education Program. He was called to full time ministry and served Cool Springs Christian (DOC) and Old Well Christian Church (DOC). Ron was an avid golfer and enjoyed coaching golf and pole vaulting. The Hamp-Hennis golf tournament to benefit Waynesboro High School Golf Program is in his honor. Throughout his life, he was always seen as a caring and understanding guide and mentor.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 17, 2016 at Old Well Christian Church. A funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 17, 2016 at Old Well Christian Church with Rev. Mike Carrow, Rev. Roy Parker, Rev. Jim Pence, and Scott Kallam. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
