Born in Bassett October 30, 1937, she was a daughter of the late Ernest Brown and Lizzie Hodges Brown. Preceding her in death was her husband, William Davis (W.D.) Whitlow in June of 2012.
Shelby was a graduate of Bassett High School, member of Bassett Church of the Brethren, and volunteered with the SPCA. She retired from American of Martinsville with over 30 years of service.
Surviving is her daughter Donna Whitlow of Austin, TX, and her sister Tena Cassady of Bassett.
The funeral service will be at 1:30 P.M. Sunday, August 26, 2012, with the Chaplain Vicki Lumpkin officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Burial Park. The family will receive friends Saturday from 7 to 9 P.M. at the McKee-Stone Funeral Home, Martinsville.
