

Violet Shelton Wilson, 96, of Martinsville, passed away Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at Memorial Hospital in Martinsville. She was born in Sandy Ridge, NC on October 13, 1919 to William Jefferson Shelton and Pearlie Rhodes Shelton.
Mrs. Wilson was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church but attended Spring Street Baptist Church. She retired from Tultex after 35 years of service and after her retirement she continued to make sweat shirts as a hobby.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Linverd Wilson; two sons, Paul David Wilson and Lewis Gray Wilson; one sister, Willie Rakes and five brothers, Paul, Glenn, Coy, Henry and James Shelton.
She is survived by two daughters, Florence Ann Stanley of Charlotte, and Carolyn W. Hanes (Damon) of Myrtle Beach, SC; one son, Jerry Wayne Wilson (Barbara) of Martinsville; one brother, George Shelton of Collinsville, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and one daughter-in-law, Judy Wilson of Cincinnati, Ohio.
The funeral service was held Saturday, April 23, 2016 at McKee-Stone Funeral Home in Martinsville.
Pall bearers were Jeffrey Wilson, Sandra Wilson, Gregory Wilson, Mark Stanley, Dave Stanley, and Damon Hanes.
Burial was in the Sandy Ridge Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Sandy Ridge, NC.
