On Friday, May 5, 2023, Virginia Carlton Finley, 81 years of age from Collinsville, Va., unexpectedly traveled to her eternal heavenly home. She was born in Richmond, Va., on Nov. 12, 1941, to the late Thurman W. “Jack” Carlton and Virginia Rosalie Horner Carlton.
She is survived by her husband, Earl “Gene” Finley, Jr.; her son, Timothy Garman (Kerri) of Rocky Mount, Va.; three stepsons, Edwin Finley (partner, Cindy) of Collinsville, Va., Christopher Finley (Laura) of Salem, Va., and Brian Finley of Martinsville, Va.; her sister, Debbie Carlton Parker (fiancée, Gary) of Henry, Va.; two grandchildren, Brooke and Garrett; six step grandchildren, Candi, Austin, John, Anna, Sarah, and Brianna; niece, Jennifer Parker Smith (Kevin) of Collinsville, Va.; two nephews, Daniel Parker of Henry, Va.; Jeffery Parker (Ashley) of Union Hall, Va.; two great nieces, Madison and Sophia, and great nephew, Silas; special friends, Mary Sue Ancarrow, Shirley Hodges, and Jackie Lester.
She loved her family and enjoyed doing for others. She adored animals; especially cats, as well as spending time at Smith Mountain Lake and Myrtle Beach. She was an avid reader and was also fond of cooking, boating, and gardening.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, May 18, 2023 McKee-Stone Funeral Home, 109 Broad Street, Martinsville, VA. and will be officiated by Pastor Lee Ashley. Friends may visit with the family beginning 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. A private interment will be held at Roselawn Cemetery.
