Virginia Stowe Watkins

Virginia Stowe Watkins, 89, of Martinsville, died Monday, March 18, 2013 at Memorial Hospital in Martinsville. She was born in Patrick County on June 11, 1923 to Edward Lee Stowe and Bessie Chaney Stowe. She retired from DuPont after 42 years of service and was a member of Wayside Baptist Church in Ridgeway.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wayland S. Watkins; three sisters, Eldean Clark, Anna Freeman and Opal DeShazo; three brothers, William Richard Stowe, James Oliver Stowe and Robert Lee Stowe.

She is survived by one sister, Edna Shelor of Salem and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Thursday, March 21, 2013 at 2:00 PM at McKee-Stone Funeral Home in Martinsville with the Rev. Bill Hicks officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Burial Park.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service.
