Barry and Steve, Your mother and Betty were very special friends of my mother. She always talked about how good they were to her when they were kids. It’s always extremely hard to lose your mother, but be thankful for the wonderful person she was. Mike Cox

My love and sympathy to Gwendolyn's family. I have fond memories of her and her family (the Chitwoods). My mother (Maude Atkins) and Hattie were the best of friends for many years and I remember visiting with them many time at their home on Carter Street. We lived on Wilson Street. A wonderful family whom I miss. I now live in Charlotte, NC. Rest in peace, my friend.
