Alice was born on October 16, 1924, in Mason, Michigan, to Floyd L. Miller and Grace I. Miller. A proud supporter of the World War II home front, she helped pack food rations for American soldiers overseas. After graduating from high school, she attended County Normal and earned her credentials to teach in a one-room schoolhouse. She went on to teach at the Rolf School on Barnes Road and the Steele Street School, both near Mason, where she influenced countless young lives.
In August 1948, Alice married Donald Eugene Wightman. In 1956, the couple settled on a piece of land gifted by her father, where they moved and established a family home. Alice lived there for most of her life, building a legacy of warmth and devotion.
Following her teaching career, she joined the State of Michigan Treasury Department in Lansing, where she worked until her retirement. Alice was a devoted member of Aurelius Baptist Church, where her faith, kindness, and generous spirit left a lasting impact. She was also active in the local Kiwanis Club and enjoyed sharing her artistic talents by entering her paintings in the Ingham County Fair.
Alice is survived by her four children: David Wightman, Mark Wightman (Anajinky), Betty Argersinger (John), and Kathleen Stillwagon; along with many beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She is also remembered fondly by her nieces, Gloria Malone and Sharon Whipple, and her extended church family at Aurelius Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Eugene Wightman; her grandson, Michael Argersinger; her siblings—Max, Wayne, Lyle, Harold, and Raymond Miller, and Betty Gillison—as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and other cherished family members.
