Arthur Edmund Bischoff

Arthur Edmund Bischoff, age 87, was a wonderful Dad, Papa, and Brother. He was born to Arthur Karl Bischoff and Christine J (Winters) Bischoff on March 30, 1939 in Pittsfield Massachusetts and peacefully went to his heavenly home on August 12, 2026.  Surrounded by family and best friend.

He is survived by his children Teressa (James) Long, Yavonne (Bill) Whitbeck, Lynn (Trevor) Goedert, Arthur B. Bischoff. He was blessed by his grandchildren, Chad (Diana) Hendges, James (Mary) Long, Dylan Goedert, Patrick Long, Jared Goedert. He is also survived by his brother Jeremiah Bischoff , close friend Giore Etzion along with many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his Father, Mother, Sisters Hazel Patch, Martha Kasprzak, Sarah Bischoff, and Karen Heiney, brothers Joshua Bischoff and Jonathan Bischoff.

Arthur graduated from Leslie high school in 1958. He attended Michigan State University 1958 - 1959. He left Michigan State University to return home to help his parents and five younger siblings rebuild after their house was destroyed by a fire. Over the years, Art started a construction company with his father and went on to work for the Michigan Carpenters Union #1004 where he successfully obtained his builder’s license. Art then started his own company Bischoff Construction and successfully operated his company for 25 years. As a side hustle, he also was the City of Leslie building inspector for 20 years. In 1996, Art moved to St. Louis, Mo and worked for the Missouri Carpenters Union #417 until his retirement in 2001.

Art was actively involved in several organizations throughout his life and took great pleasure in serving his community where he was known for his dedication, generosity and willingness to help others. He served as the Vice President for the State of Michigan Jaycee’s. Under his leadership, the Leslie Jaycees founded and ran the Leslie Ambulance Service in 1970. He was also the President of Leslie High School Music Boosters and Coached many Leslie Little League teams. 

Art found great joy in sports. During his Leslie High School years, he played on the football and baseball teams. As an adult, he continued his love of sports by bowling on a mixed doubles league for many years. He thoroughly enjoyed watching MSU sports and Detroit Tiger baseball. Beyond his love of sports, Art enjoyed many activities that brought him happiness including spending time with family and friends, working on building projects, gardening (vegetable and flowers), traveling, camping, puzzles, enjoying nature, helping others, sharing stories and making memories with those he loved.

Art accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior later in life.

Although we miss him greatly, and look forward to seeing him again, we are grateful that he is no longer in pain and has received his ultimate healing.

Services honoring Art's life will begin on Friday August 21, 2026, with visitation 10:00 AM followed by a service at 11:00AM officiated by Pastor Gib Hale at Gorsline-Runciman Funeral Home located at 621 S Jefferson St. Mason MI 48854.

Art will be laid to rest at Woodlawn Cemetery in Leslie, MI. following the services.
