Betty Irene Darlington

Betty Irene Darlington went home to be with the Lord on June 10th 2026. Born Betty Irene Pringle on the 20th November 1936 to Harry and Irene Pringle in Webberville Michigan, she was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Kenneth Pringle, William Pringle and Robert Pringle. Sisters Aleta Peterson, Roberta Johnson, and nephew, Eric Scarlett. Surviving is her sister Wilma (George) Scarlett. She has two daughters, Lori Darlington and Julie (Eric) Hancock, three grandchildren, Jeremiah Taylor, Amanda (Carlos Valadez) Hancock and Heather (Konstantin) Hollerith. She has two great grandchildren, Katlie Irma, and Damian Alan Valadez. She also has many nieces and nephews.

Betty was multitalented, she both played and taught the accordion. She was an avid bowler and photographer. She loved animals, reading, rock collecting, ice skating and antiquing. She had a one of a kind generous heart and gave her all to all of her children and grandchildren. She was a protecting and loving soul we all were lucky to experience in so many ways. She was fiercely intelligent, opinionated and independent. She bravely made a life on her own for her two girls and grandson. She is and was very proud of her work with MSU and the State of Michigan Corrections Department working as a Programmer Analyst and built many systems. She also was part of the generation that forged their way in the work world making it safe and equitable for women to join the workforce in areas that women generally weren’t always welcome. Words cannot express her immense presence in our lives and it seems unimaginable to be without her. Her strong spirit will forever remain with all who knew and loved her.

Also we need to mention our lifelong Neighbor, Friend , and honorary big brother, David Harper. Thank you for being there when mom needed anything.
