Bruce Alan Young

Bruce (B.A.) Alan Young was born on April 9, 1951 in Lansing, MI, the son of Raymond and Florence Young and passed away July 29th, 2019 at the age of 68.

Bruce was a 1969 graduate of Holt High school where he met the love of his life, Carol. Bruce and Carol were married on October 23, 1971, they had 2 daughters, and enjoyed 46 years of marriage together. He was enlisted in the United States Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was proudly employed as an Engineer at Dart Container Corporation for 34 years and in 2014 he retired to his lake home in Crystal, MI. Bruce was an avid golfer, played on many courses and leagues and was a member of the North Star Golf Course for many years. He was a car enthusiast, and loved going to the local car shows. He loved to take his daughters to the car shows and teach them about old cars. He was also a tinkerer – he could fix anything that needed fixing as long as he had ‘duck tape’. He was also a wealth of knowledge and he knew a little bit about everything, just ask him. Most importantly, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend.

Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Ken, his wife, Carol and grandson, Caleb. Surviving to cherish his memory are his daughters, Rachel (Ben) Bodwin, Leigh (Tim) Petrowski; grandchildren, Erika (Jesse) Watson, Kyle Anderson, Jayden Engle, Justin Engle, Abigail Petrowski, Olivia Petrowski, Brianna Anderson, Timothy Petrowski, Jaelyn Bodwin, and Jackson Bodwin; in-laws, Lynn (Gladys) Cratsenburg; sisters-in law, Cheryl (Brian) Haley, Beth Cratsenburg, Barbara (Marv) Litwiller; brother-in law, Jim (Sharon) Cratsenburg; and many special nieces and nephews. He will be lovingly remembered for his wicked sense of humor, quick wit, kindness, generosity, patience, and contagious laugh.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 1:00-4:00pm on Saturday, August 3rd at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes Ball Dunn Chapel, 621 S. Jefferson St., Mason, MI. Interment at Hamilton Cemetery will occur at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Dart Container Tribute Garden, 500 Hogsback Rd., Mason, MI 48854 in memory of Bruce.
