I had the pleasure of working with Carl at General Motors for most of my career there. I'm sure it's no surprise to anyone that the nights can be long and boring. Any chance I had to work with Carl I took advantage of. He loved history and I did too, I particularly liked WWII, so we would talk alot about that. I also enjoyed his wry sense of humor. So anytime you could spend a night learning some history and having a laugh or two is a good night at GM. After he and Livia got married he seemed much happier. My wife Judith and I would get together with Carl and Livia occasionally, and getting to know Livia was a real treat, she is such a wonderful person. I will miss Carl a lot, he was a very special friend to me.

Our lives are not our own. From womb to tomb we are bound to others, past and present. And of each crime, and every kindness we birth our future... Rest in peace my oldest friend (1957)....I'll see you down the road.
