Carson Ellsworth Minshall, age 92, passed away in his home on Friday March 16, 2018. Carson was born on the family farm July 13, 1925 in Paw Paw, Michigan to Maxine (Ryder) Minshall and Carson E. Minshall.
Carson graduated from Dowagiac High School and enlisted in the US Navy serving during WWII. After his honorable discharge in 1947, he went on to earn his degree from Hillsdale College and married his sweetheart Nancy (Hendryx) Minshall in 1949. He became a Mechanical Engineer specializing in large facilities HVAC.
After retirement he pursued new careers in consulting, retail and professional golf. Carson and Nancy enjoyed camping, hunting, managing Hickory Lake Campground in Perry, Square Dancing and spending time with friends at Sunny Shores in Bradenton Florida. Carson authored several books sharing his wit and wisdom.
After moving to Mason in 1960, Carson served on Mason City Council, briefly as Mayor and was a member of the Lions Club and Amvets. He was an avid golfer and operated his golf shop for many years building and repairing clubs.
He is survived by Nancy, his wife of 68 years, sons Steve, Mark, Greg, David (Kerri D), Phillip (Leanne), Kerry (Kerri L), daughter Anita McLaughlin (Thomas) many grandchildren, their spouses and numerous great grandchildren.
A memorial service for family and friends will be held in his honor at Mason City Hall Community Room on Sunday April 22, 2018 at 1:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ingham County Animal Shelter at ac.ingham.org where they had adopted several pets.
