Born January 2, 1957 in Mason, Michigan to William “Dallas” and Melba (Cole) Walters, passed away on May 25, 2017 at the age of 60 after a courageous battle with cancer. He retired from General Motors after 30 years. Dallas loved spending time with his family more than anything. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, golfing, classic cars, the U.P., watching Barnwood Builders, Counting Cars and of course spending his $10 daily allowance on lottery tickets. Dallas was recently baptized with his brother Keith on May 7, 2017. The family would like to give special thanks to all McLaren services especially Dr. Layhe, staff and Hospice.
Dallas was preceded in death by his father, Dallas in 2004; brother, Stanley Walters in 1997; and granddaughter, Sawyer Lynn Walters in 2015.
Surviving to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 36 years, Karen (Leonard) Walters; “My Son”, Jacob (Heather) Walters; granddaughters, Morgan and Nora Walters; mother, Melba Walters; brother, Keith Walters; sister, Gail Walters; in-laws, Stan and Kay Leonard; brother-in-law, Stanley “Butch” (Patty) Leonard; as well as several nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, and special friends.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at the Mason First Church of the Nazarene, 415 E. Maple St., Mason, Michigan 48854. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 621 S. Jefferson St., Mason, MI 48854 and one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to his granddaughter’s college fund payable to Morgan and Nora Walters, MSUFCU Mason Branch, 1133 S.
