Davey George Guthrie, age 75 of Dansville, MI born on October 31, 1948 went to join his wife Sandy on December 18, 2023. Davey is survived by his brother Mike (Virginia) Guthrie, his sister Sherry (Tom) Sawyer, two children- Chad (Jessie) Guthrie and Kristy (Jeremy) Cook, grandchildren- Courtney (Jeffrey) Howard, Parker (Noah) Croegaert, Rebecca (Chandler Cheeks II) Guthrie, Avery (Keith Risner) Cook, Claire Peek, one great-grandson Brantley Croegaert. He also really loved his pets, Phoenix the dog and Ragmop the cat.
Davey enjoyed many things, he loved taking his hot rods to local car shows, hanging out with his close knit friend group, and overserving everyone that he could- but he really loved dispensing both solicited and unsolicited "old-school" knowledge. You may have run into him at the "gotta go" rack in the Mason Meijer, where he loved to buy clearance items that he didn't need, to give to unsuspecting friends and family who also didn't need them.
Davey was an amazing driver in his younger days, scoring more trophies racing go carts than he could display, and in his adult years winning ice races on a motorcycle with a sidecar. In his later years he liked to complain about other drivers who were clearly not driving to his standards. He could fix almost anything.
He was drafted into the Marine Corps during the Vietnam War and was proud of his service, but rarely talked about it. He retired from Skilled Trades at "Olds" as an Air Tool Repairman after a 30 year career, spent mostly on night shift.
Both Davey and Sandy enjoyed supporting the Dansville Library, and donations to the library in their name would make them both so happy. There won't be a formal memorial, but there will be a big gathering to remember them both late spring in 2024.
A couple of paragraphs aren't nearly enough to describe a man who has been so many things for so many people. I'd like to leave you with one of his favorite things to say- please read this out loud and in a loud voice while looking at someone that you love.
HEY- has anyone told you today just how beautiful you are?
