

Dorothy was a graduate of Mason High School with the class of 1943. Retiring from the State of Michigan in 1985, where she had been employed with the Secretary of States Office for 31 years. There being associated with the Michigan Centennial Farm Association/Program and assisting with the preservation of Michigan's past in public records and documents.
Having an interest in history and genealogy, she researched and compiled her family's lineage over the years, and in 1988 authored and published a book tracing her two son's lineage back through several generations of their combined families of Lamphere and McDowell.
Becoming a semi-professional clown at the age of 52 under the name of "Dottee", she became a member of Clowns of America, donating many hours to numerous area festivals, parades, Easter Seals Telethons, MDA Marathons, and charitable fund raisers. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Donovan and brothers, Myron, Clifton, Cleo,Celand and Verle; sisters, Frances, Ellenora and Lillian. Surviving are her sons, Dennis and David; two granddaughters, and seven great-grandchildren.
