Douglas J. McNamara

Born on December 14, 1950, Doug lived a life defined by hard work, generosity, and an easygoing sense of humor. He was someone who could always be counted on to lend a hand, share a laugh, or tackle a project with skill and determination.

Doug spent decades working for his father in the family businesses, McNamara Construction and WEMCO, as a crane operator and construction professional, alongside his brothers, Jeffery and Charles. Throughout his career, he helped lay sewer infrastructure across the Lansing area, throughout parts of Michigan, and in Florida. He took great pride in honest work and earned the respect and friendship of many colleagues along the way.

A gifted carpenter, Doug continued putting his talents to use long after his construction career. In his later years, he found joy in helping friends and family with home renovations, repairs, and handyman projects. His willingness to help others reflected the generous spirit that defined his life.

Doug was known for his quick wit and clever sense of humor. He loved making people laugh and enjoyed the company of family and friends, leaving behind countless memories filled with smiles and stories.

From an early age, Doug loved baseball. His passion for the game led him to become a standout pitcher at Waverly High School in Delta Township, where his athletic ability earned the admiration of teammates and competitors alike. His love of baseball remained with him throughout his life.

Doug is survived by his brother, Jeffery McNamara; his former spouses, Nancy Magyar (Fletcher), Geodi Hall (Schraft), and Karen Block; his children, Brian McNamara, Jason McNamara, and Douglas Hall; his grandchildren, Miles, Ella, and Liam and many nieces and nephews; and extended family members, who will remember his kindness, craftsmanship, humor, and willingness to help whenever he was needed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Emmet and Eilein Edna (Vogel) McNamara; his sister, Kathleen; his brother, Charles; and his son, Charlie.

Doug’s legacy lives on in the lives he touched through his work, his generosity, and the love he shared with his family and friends. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
