He was born on October 8, 1942, in Mason, Michigan where he grew up on the family farm. Douglas graduated from Mason High School in 1961 and worked as head of maintenance for Century Stair Company. He was actively involved in yardwork, he loved beautifying the yard, his dogs Bella & Bear, cooking both at home and at the 40 et 8 and estate sale shopping.
He is preceded in death by his father, Howard E. Scripter; mother, Geraldine M. Scripter (Clark); and his brother, Marvin H. Scripter. He is survived by his daughters, Jovon Pierce, Sherry (Joe) Mills, Tiffany (Greg) Miller, Lori Bolley and his only son, Howard (Alyssa) Scripter; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and his two sisters, Yvonne Slee and Faith Jarvis.
