Duane was employed by Fisher Body in Lansing for 47 years, retiring in 1997. He was a journeyman toolmaker, and later a body checker in the Zeiss room. He loved skydiving, making about 3000 jumps, back in the day when that was a lot of jumps. He played golf on a league with his son and loved the time they spent together. He was an avid cribbage player, teaching many friends the game. He and his wife travelled to Spain, the Canary Islands, France, the Bahamas, Mexico, and Trinidad & Tobago, as well as many states across the US. They also loved camping in northern Michigan, keeping a seasonal camper at Rapid River Campground for many years, making the trip up every weekend throughout the summers.
Duane was a kind, gentle, honest, humorous, loving, giving soul and will be sorely missed by all who knew him. Coping with dementia these later years, his personality scarcely changed and he woke each day with a smile on his face.
