Ed Souders was born in Benton, Illinois on March 29, 1933 of Clifford Emanuel and Julia Ellen. He grew up with three brothers, Bill, Dave and Dick. He met his wife of 60 years, Lillian in Junior High School in Rockford, Ill. They were married and began their family while he was attending Michigan State University. He worked in the computer industry all his life, 30 years with IBM, and then opened his own business, Entre Computer Center in Lansing.
His dedication to community service was life-long. Ed served on several non-profit boards, including Capital Quality Initiative and President of the Chamber of Commerce. He continued his community service efforts through retirement with SCORE. His greatest career achievement was the community service award from the Lansing Chamber of Commerce.
He was an avid golfer, traveling with friends to courses to watch the pros and play a round. He relished his time in Scotland at St. Andrews and also enjoyed teaching the grandkids to golf. Ed was proudest of his family. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Dick and Dave. Ed is survived by his wife Lillian and brother, Bill and his wife Barbara. Ed and Lil had 5 children, Cindy, Mike (wife LuAnn), Sandy, Pat and Julie (husband Brian Spyke). He has 10 grandchildren; Cindy’s son Anton and daughters, Rachel (husband Ross Loehner) and Mary Kate Wishik; Mike’s sons, Parker Fogel and Michael (wife Casey); Sandy’s family, Nathan and Abagail; and the Spyke family, BJ, Allison and Christopher. There will be a Memorial Visitation, Thursday, August 1st from 5:00 - 7:00 P.M. at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 621 S. Jefferson, Mason.
