Deeply loved by his family and many friends, Chief Petty Officer Frank H. Fellows, U.S. Navy (Ret.), age 85, of Evart, MI, passed away on August 25th, 2026, in Cadillac, MI, following a brief illness.
Frank was born December 14, 1940, in Mason, MI, to Bert and June (Meyers) Fellows. After graduating from Mason High School in 1959, Frank answered the call to serve and enlisted in the United States Navy. He served his country admirably, rising to the rank of Chief Petty Officer (AEC) before retiring in 1978 as a Chief Aviation Instructor for F-14 Electrical Systems.
After retirement, Frank and his family returned to Michigan to be closer to family. He lived in Dansville, Traverse City, and Evart, where he continued to use his electronics knowledge by working for several companies as a Quality Control Supervisor for Automotive electrical components.
Frank was a lifelong fisherman and sportsman. He enjoyed fishing and hunting with his friends and many family members. He taught hunter safety for many years, sharing his knowledge and love of the outdoors with future generations. He had many interests and hobbies, including woodworking, painting, photography, antiquing, cooking, gardening, and rock hunting. In his later years, he renewed his love of shooting sports and was a member of the Reed City Sportsman's Club, where he made many new friends. As he grew older, he became passionate about rescue dogs. He worked with the National Brittany Rescue and Adoption Network (NBRAN), providing for foster dogs, doing home checks, and fostering several older dogs who, unsurprisingly, never left and became part of his family.
Those who knew Frank knew him as a funny, sarcastic, stubborn, gentle, and loving man who valued his friends and family above all else. He was a devoted brother, husband, father, and friend. In his final years, he was reacquainted with his sons and grandchildren. Those relationships brought him incredible joy and peace.
He is survived by his daughter Jacquelyn Fellow Forster (Bruce); his son, Frank Fellows Jr. and Donald Fellows; his grandchildren, Joseph Fellows (Kristie Hall), Jessica Fellows (Evan Robydek), and Jeramie Fellows; his great-grandchildren, Marrissa Williamson (Aydin Vos), and Josh Fellows; his great-great-granddaughter, Neriah Vos; his sisters, Nancy Wyzlic and Sue (Rick) Ketchum; his brothers, Ron (Trudy) Fellows and Bill Fellows; a multitude of beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nieces, and great-nephews; members of his late wife's family; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife and best friend of 35 years, Karon (DeKett); his parents and grandparents; his brother, Dave Fellows; his niece, Terena Galaviz; and many aunts and uncles.
