On October 27, 2014, our beautiful baby girl Grace Allison Bushey was taken from us way too soon due to complications with her treatment for acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Grace passed away peacefully in the pediatric intensive care unit at Sparrow Hospital surrounded by an overflowing room full of family and friends. Only a short fourteen years earlier on August 14, 2000, she was brought into this world with many of the same people in attendance just two floors down.
Grace was a freshman at Mason High School where she was an honor student and pursued her many interests of volleyball, swimming, and track. Grace was a beautiful, strong, smart girl that always had a smile on her face bringing joy and happiness to all who were around her. Her love of animals showed her kind, compassionate heart. She loved parties and being with friends. She was the ultimate big sister who always took care of her sister and brother and everyone else around her. Although we affectionately called her “Amazing Grace,” that was exactly what she was.
Grace is survived by: her parents Brian Bushey & Stacey (Marcell) Bushey; her siblings Emily (13) and Alex (10) all of Mason, MI; her god-parents Gary Bilski of Alexandria, VA and Jennie Maike of Sylvan Lake, MI; her grandparents Mark & Jill Ponozzo of Iron River, MI, Maurice & Catherine Bushey of Caseville, MI, Gary Marcell of Iron River MI; her aunts and uncles: Mark Bushey, Maribeth Bushey, Mathew & Marybeth Boucher, Keith & Linette Baur, Dan & Janice Glidden, Bill & Renee Jacobson, Sean & Brandy Cujala; her cousins Joshua, Shannon, Nicholas, Claire, Tristan, Dedrick, Anna, Vera, Ben, Isaiah, Noah, Zack, Elizabeth, Olivia, Abby; and her dog Lightning. Grace was preceded in death by her guinea pig Buddy.
Visitation is from 2 to 6 p.m. on October 31, 2014 at St. James Catholic Church, 1010 S. Lansing St., Mason, MI. A funeral mass celebrating Grace’s life will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at 11 a.m. at St. James Church with a luncheon to follow at St. James Cave Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations in Grace’s name can be made to Wigs 4 Kids www.wigs4kids.org or the Ingham County Animal Shelter www.donateingham.org/icac/.
