

Born June 17, 1921 in Ingham County, Michigan to Earl and Marian (Nelson) Townsend, passed away on January 20, 2016 at the age of 94. Islia was a resident of the Mason area all her life and graduated from Dansville High School. She was a bookkeeper for John Deere, one room school house teacher and a veteran of WWII serving in the US Marines. Islia loved to travel. She was a member of the St. James Catholic Church. Islia was very active in the Mason Optimist Club and the American Legion NUWARINE Post 535 of Lansing. She was preceded in death by her first husband Sam Tomlinson; her second husband Charles of 41 years; her parents; two sisters, Roberta Face, Wilma Cobb; two brothers, Lyle Townsend, Bruce Townsend. Surviving are her step-son; Alan Tomlinson; several nieces and nephews; and great nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held Monday January 25, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the St. James Catholic Church, 1010 S. Lansing Rd., Mason, MI 48854 with The Reverend Kusitino Cobona officiating. Military honors to follow provided by American Legion Browne-Cavender Post 148 of Mason. Graveside services at Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, MI at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends on Sunday January 24, 2016 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 621 S.
