

James Martin Day, age 79, passed away on January 26, 2018, from complications of vascular dementia. Born November 3, 1938, to James T. and Eleanor Day, Jim and his four siblings were raised in southeast Wisconsin. He graduated from University of Wisconsin – Madison with a degree in Animal Science. Jim worked summers in Pennsylvania while in college where he met Shirley Reed. Jim and Shirley recently
celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary. Jim’s career spanned 38+ years, most recently as a Dairy Programs Coordinator at North Star Select Sires.
Upon retirement, he was recognized by the Michigan Dairy Memorial & Scholarship Foundation for his tremendous impact on Michigan’s dairy industry.
After retirement, he enjoyed numerous volunteer activities in Mason and traveling with his wife Shirley.
Jim is survived by his wife, Shirley; two sons, James R. (Renee) and Robert (Pam); and daughter, Dr. Janice (Greg) Suhajda; 8 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Jess (Rich) Skora, Barbara Shable, Jeanne Meier, and Tom (Chris).
A Memorial Service will be held at 11am on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Mason First Presbyterian Church. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Visitation will be held 2-4pm and 6-8pm Friday, February 2, 2018 at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, Ball Dunn Chapel in Mason.
Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Jim to the church or to a charity of your choice.
