Janis Elizabeth House
May 1, 1932 – September 24, 2021
Mrs. Janis Elizabeth House of Mason, Michigan, died peacefully on September 24, 2021. Mrs. House was preceded in death by her husband Max House and was the daughter of the late James and Freda Dart of Mason, Michigan. Janis loved her family, the church, and her friends, and was especially fond of her "furry family", all the dogs and cats that gave her joy and comfort throughout her life. She enjoyed watching the birds and wildlife that came around the house, as well as gardening and growing flowers. She loved to go fishing and be on the water; there was nothing more delightful than to hear her shout with excitement when a northern pike hit her line. She was an avid doll maker and most of her children have at least one doll, as well as many other creative projects that she made throughout the years. She was a faithful friend to so many and was dearly loved. Until her health failed, she was an active member of South Baptist Church in Lansing, Michigan, where she sang in the choir for many years; a love of singing which she passed on to her children and grandchildren. Froggy Went-A-Courtin and You Are My Sunshine will always be remembered.
We have such fond memories of family celebrations and holidays where she would gather as many of the family together as she could for wonderful meals, laughter, and Michigan State football or basketball! And oh, how she rooted for those Detroit Lions!
Mrs. House is survived by her children, Deborah Adani, James Taylor, Roberta Allen, Robert Taylor, Pam Patterson, Mark House, Andrew House and Matthew House, as well as her sister Julie Dart. Her grandchildren whom she loved and adored; Leanne Banister, Lori Payne, Emily Chandley, Janet Brehm Taylor, Thorin Taylor, Anthony Adani, Dino Adani, Stephen Patterson, and Kelsey Patterson, and great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Keira Banister, Caitlyn and Leah Chandley, and Elijah and Charlotte Payne.
Instead of flowers, the family requests that gifts be made to the Hospice House of Mid-Michigan or the Ingham County Animal Shelter.
A graveside service for family and friends will be held on October 16th, 2:00 pm at Maple Grove cemetery in Mason, Michigan.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.grbdmason.com for the House family.

Janis Elizabeth House

Janis's parents used to have high school classmates come to their house, and have music in their garage for dancing. I have never forgotten Janis's warmth and good nature.
The Mason classmates of 1950 have kept close contact thru our last reunion in 2015.
