John Newell Causie, 82, born May 2, 1935 in Jackson County, passed away March 15, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Beloved husband of 61 years to Wilma. John was a 1954 Leslie High School graduate. For many years he was an avid bowler and enjoyed his time with the men's slow pitch softball league. He was a member of the Professional Archery Association. He retired as Captain of the Ingham County Mounted Division and served as an auxiliary officer of the Leslie Police Department. John was the owner and president of Causie Contracting since 1966 specializing in concrete pavement repairs. He was also a proud supporter of the Ingham County 4-H livestock program. John loved his horses, cows, farming, fishing, hunting, traveling and spending time with his family.
Survived by his wife Wilma (Pulver) and two dogs (Rocky and Zoey), as well as his 3 children; Sheryl (Dale E.) Arnett, Sue (Art) Brooks, Steve (Susie) Causie; his 11 grandchildren, Danielle (Andy) Gibbs, Deanna Arnett, Sandi (Justin) Douse, Dale Michael (Damaris) Arnett, Swanna (Jay) Cavanaugh, Sharon (Paul) Sonnenberg, Sharolyn Arnett, Amanda (Jeremy) Howard, Kandice (Dar) Erickson, Stephanie (Randy) Clelland, and John Wayne Causie (Courtney Cater). He is also survived by 2 step-grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; half-brother, Jim (Peg) Van Dorn; brother, George (Jackie) Causie; sisters, Roberta Balk, Judy (Gregg) Barratt; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Betty Causie.
Visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, March 18, 2018 at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 621 S. Jefferson St., Mason, MI. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 19, 2018 at Mason Community Church, 1000 E. Columbia St., Mason, MI with Pastor Dutch Docktor officiating.
