Dear Northrup family: Dr. Joe took care of my daughter nearly one year ago after a tragic accident. She was full of fear after her surgery, and only felt safe with Dr. Joe. He always took time. He built a relationship with her and taught her to trust. She felt safe when he was around. They shared pictures of beloved pets and, at times, he just sat with her, even though he had a million other places to be. He answered her questions, made her feel comfortable, and was the bright spot during our most difficult time. We are so sad to hear this devastating news of the passing of ths kind, skilled, caring, and good, good man.

I just learned from a face book message between my daughter-law Becky Fraser Holcomb and Elizabeth, about the untimely passing of Joe. I would play a tough guy with him in the halls of Mason High School when I was on staff there. He was always the same, funny and smart. He would hang around the Bingo tent at the fair with his sister and mother anxious to play. When he turned 18 and could play, I made him show me his ID in front of all the other players. He was a fun loving kid. I feel for his family, rest assured God makes no mistakes. We all have great memories to hold and to cherish. May God be with Joe's family and his dogs.

Jan, Fred, Ben, Lisa,& Elizabeth-

I have many fond memories of playing at your house with all of you. Joey loved to be outside. We spent many happy days making forts in the cow pastures, playing board games under the stairs, riding bikes in the driveway, and playing kickball on hot summer afternoons. He was quick to laugh and help a friend. I'll never forget his smile. Now he can rest in the arms of the Lord.
