Kathleen “Kathi” Mary Morris, 76, was a caring mother, beloved grandmother, and friend, who was loved by many. She left this world, surrounded by loved ones, on May 8, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer. Kathi was born to Richard and Catherine Morris in Detroit, MI on December 25, 1944, and was raised in Mason, MI where she developed a love of antiques. After graduating from Mason High School, she went on to work at her parent’s store, The Quaint Shop, in Mason. It was there that she developed an impressive eye for detail and design. Kathi went on to carry out her dreams of working in interior design in the Petoskey, MI area and eventually owning her own shop downtown Petoskey, The Painted Cottage.
Those who loved Kathi won’t soon forget her vivacious spirit, her strength and determination, her infectious laugh, genuine nature, and extensive collection of antiques. She took pride in her belongings, her home, and her knack for design. She was full of life, love for her family, and always thought positive.
Kathi is preceded in death by her father Richard Morris; her mother Catherine Morris Hodgdon; and her sister Jerrilyn Meyers.
She is survived by her son Matthew T. Dropping (Corinne) of Laingsburg, MI, grandson Bradley Dropping, step-grandson Adam Horn, and precious Scottish Terrier Paisley.
The family will celebrate Kathi’s life with a memorial to be held at Burchfield Park in Holt, MI at the Overlook Pavilion Wednesday May 19th, 2021 from 2pm-6pm.
