LaVerne was born February 14, 1930 to James and Minnie Lenon. He graduated from Mason High School in Mason, Michigan in 1949. He was the Owner/Operator of Lenon Well Drilling. In later years he worked as a courier for the Ingham County School District. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1951-1953.
LaVerne married Ellene R. Lenon on November 8, 1952 and they were married happily for 66 years.
LaVerne will always be remembered for his bright smile, amazing laugh, gentleness and strength. He loved flying his plane, bowling, working in his shop and going to auction sales. He was also a serving member of The American Legion Post 148. His fondest childhood memory was going to visit his Grandparents home in Gladwin, Michigan. His earliest ambition as a child was to be a farmer which he demonstrated over the years by planting numerous bountiful gardens.
LaVerne was preceded in death by his parents James and Minnie Lenon; his sisters, Evelyn Lentz, Judy Lenon; daughter, Brenda Rodriguz; son, James Lenon.
LaVerne is survived by his wife, Ellene R.Lenon; daughter, Sharon Lenon; daughter-in-law, Judy Lenon; sisters, Charlene Achtenberg, Jean (Larry) Beckon; Terri (Robert) Lemon; 5 grandchildren, 6 great- grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Tuesday August 27, 2019 from 9:30-10:30 AM at Gorsline-Runciman Funeral Homes located at 621 South Jefferson, Mason, Michigan 48854.
● Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday August 27, 2019 at Gorsline-Runciman Funeral Homes located at 621 South Jefferson, Mason, Michigan 48854 with Pastor Curt Dalaba officiating.
Burial will be held at Fort Custer National Cemetery, 15501 Dickman Road, Augusta, Michigan 49012.
