I still remember when I made the search for childcare for my first child, 17 years ago now. I had been to so many places where kids were in bouncy chairs while the adults were busy to tending to something else, or where it felt like four babies to one adult meant no one had enough time. Then I remember my visit to EC3. Lori was down on the floor with the babies, holding one, adjusting another, letting them look at each other, interacting with all of them. You could have no worries that your child wouldn’t be individually known and get enough attention. My daughter started to cry while we were visiting and Lori just took her over so I could do the tour. By the time I came back my daughter was interacting like a part of the group! Lori really had unique skills and an amazing grace to her interactions - with parents and kids both. Condolences for your loss, so much too soon.

Lori took care of both of my babies at EC3 23 and 20 years ago! She was the best and I am eternally grateful for all she taught me. She was funny and loving. I will always remember her and know the world was a better place with her in it. My sincerest condolences to her family.

Lori was one of the first people to really welcome me into the EC3 family. That was 19yrs ago. Over the years we shared not only a place of work, but some really good laughs, and fun times outside of work. I had the pleasure of knowing her three boys. Lori was always so very proud of her boys. I admired her greatly for raising them on her own. She did an amazing job, as young men they are some of the most respectful and polite people around. Since her departure from EC3 I have missed seeing her in the mornings. We would either walk in together, or she would be ahead of me sitting up her room. We always made it a point to say “good morning”. Sometimes we even found the time to chat a bit about our kids, or other family members. Her concern for others was always so authentic. She was a baby room teacher, and I worked with preschoolers and we would banter back and forth about how neither of us would trade places with the other.
When we received the news of Lori’s sudden passing. It was like losing a family member. A heaviness has been felt by so many of us. Death is hard, even harder when it comes unexpected. But I know Lori had a strong faith, and I just know she’s standing next to Jesus, and all her worries have ended.
My thoughts and prayers go out to her family, her mother, and her three boys. Know that you are not alone, but surrounded in prayers by people who knew and loved her too.

Lori was my soul sister. She helped me cope with life as we both raised our 3 special kids. No matter when I needed to talk Lori was there. If I needed a break she added my 3 littles. to her 3 littles. Even though it has been 24 plus years we still had our late night chats. She was such a special person in my life. She also had a positive attitude no matter the situation. I will miss her smile, her laugh and her wisdom. God speed Lori.♥️♥️♥️

Lori's legacy of love and laughter is a gift to even those who didn't know her personally. Lori shared a vision of heaven with her father shortly before he died - she described it as green beautifulness where you would meet with the people you love. May her loved ones find comfort in her memory.

Claudia and the Boys - Lori was one-of-a-kind and our family - like many others - was so incredibly lucky to know her. Every one of the mini-McKinneys - Connor, Teddy and Coby - thrived in her arms. She not only helped raise generations of kids, she helped raise and coach generations of parents. Our hearts are broken - especially for the three young men she was so proud to raise. No one had a bigger heart than Lori and we were honored to be part of her life.

DJ, Devon, Darion, Claudia and the rest of the family.

Pigeon and I were shocked and saddened to here of Lori’s death. We are so sorry for your loss and pray for you all during this time of grief.

We always admired Lori - for who she was, what she did, the love and care that was deep in her soul that was blended with an extraordinary sense of right and wrong. She would question ... affirm ... and challenge others who made decisions that did not make good sense to her. Because she was motivated by love - particularly the love of her children, family and community - she often held folks accountable for questionable behavior or decisions made. She made a positive difference in the life of many.

May God’s grace and peace surround you all.

I have so many memories of Lori and times we spent together over a period of about 7 years. I was coaching machine pitch baseball in Mason and had 15 seven year olds at our first practice ever. It was a challenge. I was alone and gradually “nudged” the parents in the stands to assist. Lori was the first one on the field and not only did she jump right in but she (not so gently) “nudged” the other parents to join the two of us. From that moment on we spent countless hours with our families coaching and playing travel baseball from Mason to Detroit to St Louis Missouri to Chicago. Class Act. I haven’t spent time with her in a while but there is a hole now that she is gone.
