Luella May Dockter passed peacefully from this life to her heavenly home on September 24, 2020 at Independence Village, East Lansing Michigan. Luella lived a life of love and service and will be remembered for her heartfelt devotion to her family, friends, and faith. Born in Onondaga, Michigan, on February 18,1932, to Donald and Edith Maynard. She grew up on the family farm in Dansville, Michigan where she was the oldest of 15 siblings. While working for Nelson & Marie Dockter as a house keeper/nanny is where she met the love of her life Charles Dockter, Nelson’s son. They soon eloped on October 18, 1952 and started their life together. Luella was a loving wife, mother, grandmother & great grandmother. She was selfless, hardworking, generous and the best cook and homemaker there ever was. For relaxation she enjoyed going to the movies and watching TV.
Preceding her in death are her parents, and a brother Arthur Maynard, her loving husband Charles Dockter whom she shared life with for 61 years, oldest son Daniel Dockter and son-in-law Robert Switzenberg. Surviving to cherish her memory are sons Dirk (Carol) Dockter, Dutch (Kim) Dockter, Ron Dockter; Daughters, Denise (Jeff) Townsend, and Darlene Switzenberg; 16 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren and many special friends.
The family would like to thank Laurus Hospice and Independence Village of East Lansing for their care of Luella in her final days.
