Marvin Lawrence Swan, born August 14, 1943 of Dansville, Michigan, died peacefully Sunday, October 12, 2025 by complications from Alzheimer's. Marvin was welcomed into heaven by his parents, Lawrence (Pud) and Viola Swan as well as his grandson, Trenton Shrontz.
Marvin married his high school sweetheart, Diane (Minarik) in 1962. Over the course of 62 years they built a beautiful family with four children; Karen Swan, Katrina (Ray) Maurer, Kristine (Brad) Shrontz, Gordon Swan; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Marvin graduated from Dansville Agricultural Schools in 1961. He maintained and grew the family farm with his family raising crops, Hereford cattle, and hogs. After working with his dad in the fuel business, he built and managed Swan Fuel Service alongside his son, Gordon Swan. Marvin also established Golden Ox Auction Service after attending Kansas City Auctioneering School.
Marvin loved his community. He served as a volunteer fireman, Lion's Club member, and Booster Club member of the Dansville United Methodist Church. He volunteered his auction skills for many charitable benefits. He used the fuel business to support many youth organizations such as 4H and Dansville sports. He was also proud to have attained a centennial home.
Marvin lived his life as a man of integrity, enjoying the relationships and company of family and friends. He loved hard work, the challenge of something new, and always found a way to bring joy to the everyday with his quick wit. We will miss him deeply.
We wish to thank his devoted sister, Marlene Chamberlain, for supporting Marvin during these last difficult years and being a part of our family.
We also wish to thank the staff at Mason Country Care Home for their excellent care over the last few months. Marvin really loved your food and we appreciated how you helped us transition through a very difficult time.
