Melonie Behan, beloved wife, mother, daughter, and friend, passed away on August 26, 2025, at the age of 62. Born on June 14, 1963, in Jacksonville, Florida, Melonie moved with her family to Stone Mountain, Georgia, in 1968. It was there that she discovered many of the joys that would define her life—her love for school, her energy as part of the cheer squad, and her lifelong passion for horses.
While working at the local Steak and Ale, Melonie met the love of her life, Michael Behan. Their bond grew into a marriage of 42 years, one built on commitment, laughter, and unwavering love. Together they raised two children, Ashley Braman (Beau) and Joseph Behan (Abbigayle), who, along with her cherished grandson, Brooks Braman, carry forward her legacy of resilience, warmth, and determination.
Melonie’s path was uniquely her own. Though she chose not to pursue a college degree, her hard work and ambition propelled her to an accomplished career in sales, where she held the position of Vice President for multiple organizations. Her work ethic was unmatched, and she was admired by all who had the privilege of working with her.
Beyond her professional achievements, Melonie’s heart belonged to her family and her horses. With the encouragement and support of those she loved most, she founded Southern Belle Arabians, a breeding farm that reflected her dedication and passion. Her proudest moment came when her top mare, Jamillas Belle RCA, was named Junior Champion Egyptian Filly in 2013.
In her later years, Melonie faced her greatest challenge when she was diagnosed with dementia. Though the illness slowly took its toll, she remained surrounded by love, strength, and care.
Melonie is survived by her mother, Gloria Watson; brothers, Terrence and Timothy Watson; her devoted husband, Michael; her daughter, Ashley (Beau) and grandson, Brooks; her son, Joseph (Abbigayle); and countless extended family members and friends whose lives she touched. She was preceded in death by her father, William J. (Bill) Watson, on October 20, 1985.
Melonie will be remembered for her southern charm, her gentle elegance, her determined spirit, her endless love for her family, and the grace that shined through every season of her life.
