MERTON MILES BABCOCK Leslie, MI Merton Miles Babcock age 75 died May 11, 2011. He was born March 15, 1936 in Lansing, MI to Tex Sanford and Bernadian Erma (Harris) Babcock. Mr. Babcock was an owner and trainer of race horses. He also raced stock cars and motorcycles and loved to drive around. He also enjoyed working with tractors, mowers and just moving the earth around. Mr. Babcock loved his grandchildren. He enjoyed country music – especially Merle Haggard. He was preceded in death by his wife, Judith Ann. Surviving are 3 daughters, Deanan, Diane (Christopher) Lewis and BobbiJean; 2 sons, Donald (Laura) Babcock and William (Denise) Babcock; 9 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; one brother, Tex Kenneth Babcock; 2 sisters, Jean Macartney and Edna (Harold) Hannay. The family will hold a celebration of life at a later date. The family is being served by the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, Mason, MI. On-line condolences may be made at

My heart goes out to the family of Merton Babcock. Mert and I were good friends through our teen years and beyond. Lately I have been reminiscing about the good times we had together and there were many. Once again my condolences to the family and I hope to see you at the memorial service.
