A man of dedication to the postal patrons he served. While I never worked directly with Mike we had many phone calls about when his mail was coming from Lansing. My prayers for Hazel and rest of the family and rest assured you’ll see him again.

Throughout the 70's and into the 80's, every summer we'd have an East Lansing vs Lansing Post Offices softball game. Mike was ours (Lansing) then, and as someone who had worked at both places, I was often involved with scheduling these contests. I ALWAYS tried to ensure Mike's availability before finalizing a date. He was simply the best Postal softball player either office ever had. You always felt better about your chances if he was on your side. Very grateful to have known him and to take the field with him, whenever I was fortunate enough to do so. You will be missed Mike. Hazel and kids, so sorry for your loss.

All the best memories of my youth have an element of Michael present in them. We stayed in contact sporadically throughout the years but it was always as if no time had passed because Mike was Mike, charming, smiling, upbeat, reminding me of the silver lining in all of life’s adventures. Everything that your family shared in his obituary and that people have shared in their memories is true; a man of integrity, generosity of spirit and truly the coolest guy on earth. There’s a big gap in the energy here with his passing but it will knit together with the love that is Michael, because even death won’t stop that from coming through and in time he’ll let us all know that he’s still with us in spirit. You hear people say that someone is so kind they would give you the shirt off their back, and I have a Meadow story where he literally did that for me; (and I’m using literally in it’s proper sense) too long of a story for here, but Hazel, if our paths cross someday, I’ll tell you. Let it suffice that he left an indelible, positive, imprint on everyone he knew and we will honor him every time we pass that kindness onto the world. RIP, Michael.

Mike was one of the many bosses I had while working for the Postal Service. He was always fair with me and I felt he was the same way for the employees. Mike was devoted to his religious beliefs and he was always making sure I was "following the right path in my life." I will always be grateful for his guidance both professionally and spiritually. My thoughts and prayers are with you Hazel and all of your family members.
Sincerely,

Hazel and family,
I am so sorry for your lost. Mike was such a good co-worker, boss and person. I last saw Mike many years ago when he went to the hospital to visit and pray with my sister Esther. That meant so much to her and me. Please know you all are in my prayers and thoughts. God bless.

Hazel, Our deepest sympathy to you and your family. I knew Mike from high school at Eastern and for over 30 years at the Post Office. We were honored by your attendance at our wedding in 1977. I will always remember Mike as a superior athlete that everyone could look up to. RIP big guy!

Hazel,
So very sorry for your loss. I have very fond memories of Meadow. He was a fearless, strong willed man with a big heart. He will be missed by many? He tried to teach me to use more diplomacy and some of it stuck. I was blessed to know him as a player, umpire and league director. He wore many hats during those day's and they all fit well! Sending prayers my dear. Laura Jackson

Just a quick note to let you know that Mike had touched my life. He and my husband Barry played fast pitch softball together in the old Delta Township league, early 80s probably. Mike was a Quaker and Barry was an Eastern teacher so they had that in common, They were the same age,.
I recall Mike bringing Brody to the games. Lots of energy 🤣 I agree he was the nicest guy in the world and played ball with competition and integrity. I lost my husband 8 years ago so my prayers are with your entire family. I have come to grips with losing my husband but don’t anyone else should have to❤️ 😊 Blessings on you

Bob and I were saddened to hear of Mike's passing. He and Hazel spent many weekends with us in those glorious softball days. You were as an amazing couple then as you were 43 years later. When I think of you I think of hair, wonderful hair. Hazel's long and flowing down her back and Meadow's an almost fro. I always thought he was an image of Tom Jones. He was such a handsome guy. Mike knew how to have fun and his smile was the best. Hazel, you were so remarkable and devoted until the end and so good for each other. The love and bond you two had can not be surpassed. We know your memories will sustain you and you will remain in our prayers. Love to you and your incredible family. Bob and Margie

I met Mike in 7th grade at Pattengill Jr. High, and was friends with him until he graduated from Eastern. He was a year older and I remember him being a great football player and just all around nice guy. Later in life living close to the East Lansing post office I would run into him occasionally and he never lost that great personality or his way of just being a nice human being You will be missed by the world Michael, RIP buddy

I am so very, very sorry for your tremendous loss. I was fortunate to meet Mike many years ago, and then run into him on several occasions, when he worked alongside my mother, Joyce, at the USPS. Such a gregarious and cheerful man! I know my mother thought very highly of him. May the thoughts and prayers of all those who knew him bring some small measure of comfort to you all in this difficult time.

Mike wore many hats in the time I knew him. First he was a fellow Bulldog parent. All the times we spent in the stadium and basketball bleachers. Mike and Greg talking strategies. And all the banquets we attended with Mike and Hazel. Then he was a manager at the Lansing Post Office during some very difficult times. But you you managed with integrity and grace. But more important he was a friend.
Hazel I know all too well how you are feeling right now. Your heart is breaking but a part of you knows that he is finally free of the shackles of his earthly body. He is soaring high now. Maybe he’ll run into Greg. Love and light to you and your family. Godspeed Mike.

When I think of Mike, one of the things I remember is the nicknames he gave co-workers-Biggy Rat, Buddha, Bear to name a few and oh yes Flash- the name he gave me when I was a carrier in Okemos. Mike will always be loved as a boss, mentor and friend. He taught me so much about how to treat people and handle tough situations -To treat people with dignity and respect. He will be missed. The good die way to young. Rest in piece Eminem. You’ve left behind a legacy. Hazel, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Amy, Hazel and all the rest of the Medlock crew... my heart goes out to you. Mike was by far the most memorable Boss that I have had with the Postal Service. He was kind, funny and a great mentor. He brought me a home cooked bowl of Chicken Noodle soup to my apartment in Mason the first time I called in sick... that's the kind of guy he was. I'm heartbroken that he's gone, but he's not suffering anymore.
He's gone to that big Post Office in the sky... Love ya, big guy.

I have many fond memories from working with and next to Mike. He always brought a different perspective to difficult situations. We spent hours doing street supervision together where I learned a lot about interacting with employees by watching Mike. Plus we always had to stop by one of his favorite restaurants!
I pray for comfort for you as you go through this difficult time.

It was a pleasure working for Mike in the Mason Post Office. He was always kind, considerate and willing to help others advance. When I think of him I smile and remember the green F.R.O.G. lanyard that he wore. I'm sure that heaven has welcomed him home with honors.
