Nancy was born in Lansing, Michigan on May 26, 1955 to Harry Edward Henderson and Jennie Mae (Riggle). She attended Eastern High School, graduated in 1973 and started a 24-year long career working at Central Garage for the City of Lansing. There she made life long friends and met her loving husband, Greg KIco of 32 years. After her retirement from the City of Lansing in 1997, Nancy spent many years working for the City of Mason. While Nancy spent years working for the cities she called home, her most cherished lifetime achievement was her beautiful family.
A smile could always be found on Nancy's face, but her smile was the brightest when she was with her family creating memories. Traveling was something Nancy adored and did whenever she had the chance. Over the years, there were many wonderful family memories made traveling across country in the family van, "Big Red". The Grand Tetons in Jackson Hole, WY was one of Nancy's favorite places on earth, visiting most recently during the summer of 2023. Nancy also enjoyed boating, camping, cooking, picnicking and decorating for all of the holidays, especially birthdays and Christmas.
While Nancy had a lifelong dream of being a mother, becoming a beloved "Nana" was beyond her dreams. Her grandchildren were the light of her life. She was the ultimate Nana, playing with her grandchildren, teaching them, creating family traditions and always having a full stock of snacks and candy ready for them at all times. There wasn't much Nana said "no" to when it came to her grandchildren.
Nancy was the rock of her family and she left a loving mark on everyone she met. Her warm heart, soft touch and kindness will forever be with those that loved her.
Nancy Jo was preceded in death by her parents, brother Thomas Henderson, in-laws Marion and Frank KIco; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
She is survived by her husband, Greg; daughter Holly (Matt) Johnson of Mason; daughter Kara (Bethany) Freeman of Mason; daughter Jenny (Kyle) Urquhart of Williamston; daughter Kristina KIco of Lansing and grandchildren Jordan, Brooklyn and Charlie Urquhart and Eze, Hadley and Karis Johnson, and grandbaby Freeman due in June, and lifetime best friend Lynn Kavanagh.
The family would like to thank the University Michigan Hospital for the wonderful care Nancy received over the years.
