Nancy Eileen Staffeld

Born October 2, 1946, in Sault Ste. Marie, MI, Nancy was the daughter of William and Catherine Brady. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edward Staffeld, and her parents.

Nancy is survived by her four children, Kristin (Darrin) Perkowski, Michael (Stephany) Staffeld, Jeffrey (Jamy) Staffeld, and Douglas (Melissa) Staffeld; her siblings, Patricia McCafferty, Colleen Gossman, Janet (Jim) Mackie, and Dan (Karen) Brady; and her many beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family.

Nancy devoted her life to caring for others. A lifelong healthcare professional, she began her nursing career after graduating from St. Mary’s Hospital School of Nursing and later earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing from Western Michigan University. Her career spanned emergency, trauma, orthopedics, psychiatric care, and healthcare administration, where she rose from department manager to director and ultimately Chief Nursing Officer.

A pioneer in Michigan’s Rural Health Clinic Distinction Certification, Nancy helped advance access to quality healthcare for patients and families in rural communities. Even after retirement, she continued serving others by surveying Rural Health Clinics across the country and helping strengthen the care they provided.

Nancy’s professional accomplishments were significant, but her greatest legacy was the love she gave her family. She was a devoted mother who offered wisdom, encouragement, strength, and unconditional love. She had a remarkable ability to make others feel valued and cared for, bringing compassion, dignity, and humanity to everything she did.
