

Philip proudly served in the United States Navy as a Seabee for four years. While serving,he met his beloved first wife, Elsie, whom he married after completing his service. Following his time in the military, Philip began a lifelong career in the oil and gas industry, working alongside his best friend, Alan Jones, at H.W. Jones & Sons. Together they traveled across the country transporting and servicing oil rigs and wells. His work was a true passion, though it never outweighed his love and dedication to his family and friends.
Philip was known for his lifelong love of golf, which began in his youth as a caddy. Beyond his career and hobbies, he will be remembered most for his generosity, his strength of character, and the way he touched the lives of everyone he met. He was deeply loved and respected, leaving behind a legacy that will live on through his family.
He is survived by his wife, Joann Sullivan; his son, Theodore Sullivan; his stepsons, Mark Moore, Christopher Moore,and Matthew Moore; his siblings, Janette Appley, Janice Crabb, and Richard Dake; and his grandchildren, Jessica Sullivan and Brandon (Brianne) Sullivan.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Elsie Sullivan; his daughter, Debbie Sullivan; his daughter-in-law, Angela Sullivan; his siblings, Ron Sullivan, Den Sullivan, Robert Dake, Ken Dake, and Paul Dake; his parents, Alfred and Isabel Sullivan.
Philip lived his life fully and faithfully, overcoming challenges with resilience and pride. He was exceptionally proud of his son, Theodore, and the legacy they built together as a family. To know Philip was to admire him, and to love him was to never forget him. He will be profoundly missed.
A service of remembrance will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2025, 11 AM, at Gorsline-Runciman Funeral Home, 621 South Jefferson, Mason, Mi 48854, with Pastor Frank Carl officiating. Family will greet family and friends on Thursday, September 4, 2025 from 4-7 PM; Friday, September, 5, 2025 from 4-7 PM and from 10-11 AM on Saturday prior to the service. Philip will be laid to rest at Hawley Cemetery in Mason, Michigan with a luncheon to follow.
