Richard Simpson

Born February 20, 1951in Detroit Michigan. Graduated in 1969 from Warren Fitzgerald High School. He joined the US Army from 1969-1971 and was stationed in Germany. Upon returning home he joined the Detroit Police Department from 1972-1983. He left to provide a better life for his family. He was in the Executives Program at Chrysler in Sterling Heights, MI until 1989. His strong desire to serve in the military led him to a position in Medical Readiness training program in Alpena, Michigan from 1989 to 1996 for the Michigan Air National Guard. He trained units for Operation Desert Storm. He continued to serve in the traditional Air National Guard, retiring with a 23 year career. He held various accounting positions as well.

Richard is survived by his wife of 39 years Teresa Simpson. They were married May 8th 1982 in Detroit, Michigan. The past 25 years they made their home in Holt, Michigan. They share that home with their dog Grace. Richard is also survived by his mother in law Mary Rocha of Holt and brother in law Joseph (Geri) Rocha of Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents Johnie and Wanda Simpson.

Rick loved to spend time with his family and enjoyed fishing on his pontoon boat. He liked talking to friends and socializing at Teresa’s work events. He was always one to lend a hand when needed. He had an amazing walk of faith.
