Rita M. BeVier

December 4, 1940September 10, 2018

God decided he needed another angel, so called Rita to her heavenly home. Rita was born in Detroit on December 4, 1940 to Keith and Rita Rich; she passed away September 10, 2018.

Rita grew up in Lansing and later moved to Mason. She retired from the State of Michigan, Office of Retirement Services after ten years of service.

Rita was preceded in death by her parents, sister Virginia (Ginger) Rich, and brothers-in-law Bruce DePue and Phillippe Perreault and nephew Brucie DePue. She is survived by her son Brian (Julie) BeVier, grandchildren Jeremy (Kristina) BeVier, Jenifer (Michael) Costigan, Jared (Jennifer) BeVier, James Raynak, Erik Knutson and six great-grandchildren—Emily and Hailey Costigan, Kaidyn and Kenzie BeVier, Maddie BeVier and Landyn Knutson. She is also survived by her sisters Barbara DePue, Patricia Perreault, Carol (Louis) Haynie, and Dona (Edwin) Martinson as well as many nieces and nephews.

Our hearts are aching, but we rejoice in the fact that Rita is no longer in pain. We are grateful to the staff at the Ingham County Medical Care Facility for all of the love and care they have given her these past four years and for making her transition to her heavenly home as pain free as possible.

A memorial service will be held at 12 noon on Monday, September 17, 2018 at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes-Ball Dunn Chapel, 621 S. Jefferson St., Mason, MI 48854. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service.

Rita's smile and laughter could brighten the worst of days. Caring for her was my honor. Keeping her family in my heart during these trying times. It was my pleasure to get to know her son Brian.
Thank you to her family for sharing her with us at the facility.

So sorry to hear of Rita’s passing but she out of her pain. If Rita was your friend she was your friend for life. She had the best heart and would do anything for you. Her laughter was contagious and her sense of humor was the best. She always saw the brighter side of any situation. Loved her like a sister and the angels are lucky to have her. Rita will be missed by many of us. She was a very special person in my life. I was thankful to have her for a sister in law and for her love and thoughts for my family over the years. Although she did not get to see them, she would ask about each one individually.

I loved the positive attitude that I always saw in her, and her perseverance to keep on. She was always interested in others, and that was made clear many times.

She loved her son, Brian, so very much and was a good and loving mother. She was always proud of him, and of her grandchildren.

Now Rita is with our Lord and is no longer suffering. She is whole and complete and for that I am thankful. So thankful that the Lord touched my life through her, so many years ago.

I used to remember all of the times at the peach tree house grandma would always be yelling at the dogs cause they would be in her way and she would hit them with her cane. It was pretty funny. She was such a nice person to me always. Every time I seen her.
