Robert Alan Coats

April 20, 1977June 10, 2021

Robert Alan Coats was born in this life on April 20, 1977 to Catherine and Alan Coats in Lansing, MI. He went on to find his dreams of which he did most of. He married Sara in 1997 and went on to have two wonderful sons, Cody and Christian, who were his pride and joy. He was a great father, so lived his life with them showing them what it meant to become a man and so they became good men. His parents could not have asked for a more loving father, giving, caring and loving son, brother and great uncle.

His love of racing and going fast was paramount to him along with the love of his dogs. He holds the record for the fastest quarter mile in the family. He was a Heavy Machine Operator for Eagle Excavation & Construction until he could no longer do it. He had done many different types of work which gave him a wealth of knowledge in many areas. His work and work ethic were beyond reproach.

Robert was preceded in death by his nephew, Brendan Brown. The family that will miss him greatly are his sons, Cody (Therese) and Christian (Becca); his parents, Alan and Catherine Coats; his two sisters and their families, Rachel (Jim) Loucks, Timothy, Tiffany (Rodney) Rodriguez, Trevor, Abigale and Chad (Brooke); his four-legged fur friends, Rusty, Remi, and Ruger. He will be missed more than can be put into words.

Kathy, Alan, Rachel, and Tiffany,
We are so sorry to learn of Robbie’s passing this morning. That is such heart rending. and shocking news. I’m sorry for your broken hearts, I’m sorry for the fact that Robbie’s life ended way too soon.

I love hearing uodates of my former students. I’m delighted ( but not surprised) to hear of Robbie’s passion for his sons, his racing, and love of his family. I can still hear his middle school laughs in the back of my memory banks….usually after he’d pulled some kind of small prank. He did love to make people laugh.

With prayers and sadness in our hearts for you all….Evelyn & Larry Burgess

And Kathy……if you do want to meet up for a cup of coffee some time, I think we could listen to each other….and share hugs.

Rob was 1 of a kind. So many memories of him! The best 1 is when we were at a mud bog on Woods Rd years ago. Holly was young and said I don't want to ride with you Mommy.. Rob was the 1st one willing to walk in the mud so she would not be scared. To Cody and Christian we at "Mason Muffler" will always have your back if you should ever need anything! Race- On in Heaven Rob.. We will never forget you!

Bless every family member of Robbie Coats. My condolences go to each of you as you journey a loss so difficult. My prayers are with each of you. Sara, widowhood is not easy and I am sorry for your loss of your husband; allow the Lord to embrace you through the journey. Cody and Christian, I am so very sorry for the loss of your daddy. My heart breaks for each of you. Rachel and Tiffany, many prayers will be said in honor of your sweet younger brother. Uncle Al and Aunt Kathy, my heart goes out to you both to know the depths of pain of a child loss (Rachel as well). Allow our Savior, and Father above, hold, cherish, and strengthen all of you during this time and throughout the years to come.
It is in these times when differences (whatever they are) shall be put aside and love lifted high. Therefore, as I learn of my cousin's death, I send love, compassion, and grace. I miss the days that once were but pray one day they will come again.
Much love and blessing to each of you.

I am saddened to hear of my cousin's passing. I have many great memories of the times we shared at our grandparent's and his parent's home. Unfortunately, after many years of not seeing each other, I have missed seeing all he has accomplished. However, from what I have read, it doesn't surprise me of the great man he was to all. He will need missed greatly. My prayers for all of my family are of comfort and peace in the days ahead.

Although I haven’t been in contact with Robbie or his family for a very long time, the news of his passing still hits me like a ton of bricks. I remember Robbie as a funny, goofy, curious, extroverted kid who loved to play pranks and laugh and joke. I will always picture him with a huge smile. I am so very sorry, Alan, Cathy, Tiffany, and Rachel, as well as all his other loved ones. I wish I could hug you all so tightly. Please hold on to each other just as tight. I love you all. Shelly xoxo

Cathy, Alan and entire family,

So sorry to hear about Robert's passing. He always had a smile and a huge loving greeting heart, each time we met.
I loved to hear Cathy give us a report of his football games every Monday morning in the office (very proud Mom)! It was also interesting to hear what was going on in the garage and what car Alan and Robert were working on, to get it to Its fine tune status!
My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
