

Robert Bruce Ludtke, 87, of Mason, Michigan, passed away on September 11, 2023. He was born on March 18, 1936, in Lansing, Michigan to the late Harry and Elanore Ludtke (Marks). Robert was a loving husband of 49 years to Patricia Palmer-Ludtke (Hegge) and a devoted father to Brian Ludtke (Cindy) and Julie Hearit (Bryan). Robert was preceded in death by his siblings Carl, Allen, and Janice, and son Jeff Palmer. Robert is survived by his siblings Carolyn Bond (Carl), Sharon Laurino (Joe); children, Brian Ludtke (Cindy) and Julie Hearit (Bryan); grandchildren Samuel, Ryan (Megan), and Deklan (Sophie); and great-grandchildren Jack, Charlotte, and Francine.
Robert attended Sexton High School, graduating in the class of 1954. Robert served his country as a Korean War Navy Veteran. His dedication and service to the military were commendable. After leaving the Navy, Robert furthered his education at Ferris State with a degree in die design.
Following his military service, Robert embarked on a successful career as a die design engineer, working at Motor Wheel and Oldsmobile for 30 years. His expertise and passion in his field were evident to all who worked with him.
Outside of his professional life, Robert had a variety of hobbies that brought him joy. He enjoyed fishing with his brother Allen and brother-in-law Jerry. Playing the organ was another of his beloved pastimes. Additionally, Robert was an avid Detroit Red Wings fan and even played hockey in San Diego whenever he had the opportunity during his time in the Navy, and played in father and son hockey games when Brian was in high school.
A graveside service with military honors will be held on Monday, September 25th, at 1 pm to honor and remember Robert Ludtke. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Alzheimer's fund, a cause that was close to Robert's heart.
Robert Bruce Ludtke will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His legacy of dedication, service, and love will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have been a part of his life.
