

Ronald graduated from Mason High School in 1953 as the class president. He was in the Naval Reserve for about three years and worked at Bell Telephone for 38 years. Ronald was passionate about sports, so much so that he volunteered as a referee for about 37 years in various sports. He played semi-pro football, softball leagues, enjoyed golf and was a proud MSU fan.
Ronald was very involved in the community as well. He was a member of the Optimist Club, where he was president for one year. He attended mission trips with Holt Baptist Church in Mexico to help build churches and assisted in building houses for Habitat for Humanity. If you knew Ronald, you would know he loved to raise all kinds of animals including goats, sheep, chickens, cats and horses.
Ronald cherished his family more than anything. Nothing made him happier than spending time with those he loved. He will be deeply missed and loved by all who knew him.
Ronald was the beloved husband of Kay Surato; loving father of Kelly (David) Christmas, Jane (Todd) Surato Lyon, Michael (Jennifer) Surato, Shannon (Nathan) Clark and the late Ronald Bruce Surato; cherished grandfather of 10; great grandfather of four; great great grandfather of one granddaughter; dear brother of Thomas Surato, Richard Surato and the late Connie Lundy; and fond uncle to many nieces and nephews.
A visitation for Ronald will be held Monday, June 19 from 2:00pm - 4:00pm and 6:00pm - 8:00pm at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home - Ball Dunn Chapel 621 S. Jefferson Street Mason, MI. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 20 at 1:00pm with a visitation one hour prior at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home - Ball Dunn Chapel. Cremation to follow.
