Russell "Gene" Lewis passed away August 7, 2020. He was born June 12, 1944 in Portsmouth, Ohio to Russell and Garnet (Sickles) Lewis. He was the second born of four boys. As he was raised in Ohio, he played many sports including football and was in the Golden Gloves.
Gene married and moved to Michigan in 1964 in hopes of getting a job at General Motors. He worked for GM for over 39 years. Gene raised his family in Mason, Michigan where he was known in the community as a bowler, snowmobiler, Moose member and to the youth, "Coach". Gene coached little league football for nearly 20 years for the Eagles, having an undefeated season and even an unscored upon season. He later became president of the league. He was strict and fun loving at the same time.
Gene also had an entrepreneurial spirit about him. He had several different business opportunities from selling vitamins and health products, insurance and investments, to pop at work.
Gene was an avid Ohio State fan, as everyone knew. Go Buckeyes!
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; first wife, Wanda and son, Mitchell Shannon. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 46 years, Patricia A. Lewis; son, Jeff; daughters, Nancy (Tom) Sinnaeve, and Tammy (Mike) Brownfield; grandchildren; great grandchildren; and brother, John (Vickie) Lewis; as well as, many nephews, nieces and other family.
