Russell Wayne Wood, age 93, of Battle Creek, Michigan passed away on Saturday, November 16, 2019. Russell was born in Grand Rapids, on December 9, 1925 to Hazen and Leone Wood.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Steven Wood; his first wife, Bebe Wood; brothers, Paul and Bill Wood; and sister, Bonnie Wood.

Surviving are his wife Vivian Wood and her family. Also surviving are son, David Wood; daughter, Barbara Gonzalez; grandchildren, David (fiancé Mikki) Wood II, Steven (fiancé Janet) Wood, Dylan Gonzalez, Mikayla Gonzalez; great-grandchildren, Lorraine Ridley-Wood, Paige Wood, Lilyana Wood, Ava Wood, David Wood III; brother, Dale Wood; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Russell proudly served his country in the Pacific during WWII as a member of the United States Navy stationed aboard the U.S.S. Wasp. After returning from the war Russell briefly worked for Fisher Body, however he enjoyed being outdoors and soon returned to farming. He farmed throughout Central Michigan finally settling in Mason. Russell will be remembered for his love of the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and time at the lake in his elder years.

Please join his family on Saturday, November 23, 2019 for visitation beginning at 1:00 PM at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes Ball Dunn Chapel (621 South Jefferson, Mason, Michigan 48854). Funeral services for Russell will begin at 2:00 PM at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions in memory of Russell may be directed to the American Cancer Society.

I have so very many great memories of him on Oliverda Lake. He loved to fish & share stories. Always smiling. I baked cookies for him _ Vivian I will miss my Wayno Bueno. He did not like anyone to call him that but me. I loved him. Dance with the Angels, my friend.
