Thomas Blaine Rice

Born and raised on a hobby farm in Mason, Tom graduated from Mason High School and began working on a dairy farm as a young teenager. His involvement in the farming community quickly became a lifelong passion and career.

Tom spent his working life as a respected member of the farming community, most recently working for Star of the West Milling Co in Potterville. He was a familiar and beloved face to farmers throughout the area. His easy going nature, willingness to help, and genuine care for others made him a special part of the community he served.

Outside of farming, Tom found joy in the outdoors, especially hunting. He loved being outside and appreciated the time spent in nature, but his greatest pride and joy was always his family.

Tom met the love of his life, Karrie, in 1998, and the two were married on September 7, 2002. Together, they built a family that meant everything to him. Tom was the proud father of four children, and there was no greater source of happiness for him than watching them grow, supporting them as they participated in sports and musical events, and seeing the people they became. His family knew just how deeply he loved them, and he never missed an opportunity to let them know how proud he was.

Tom was also known for being the life of the party. He had a way of making people laugh, bringing energy into a room, and making everyone around him feel welcome. To his nieces and nephews, he was the fun uncle—the one who made memories, told stories, and knew how to have a good time. His laughter, humor, and larger-than-life personality will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Tom is survived by his beloved wife of 24 years, Karrie Rice; children: Logan Rice, Joe Rice, Mikayla Rice and Ethan Rice; brother Ronald (Patricia Teasdale) Rice; sister Holly (Matthew) Franck; numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews; and his best friends: Toby Dorer and DJ Elkins.

A memorial service for Tom will be held Friday, September 11, 2026 at 1:00pm with a visitation one hour prior at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 621 S. Jefferson St. Mason, MI 48854. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the family to help support them during this difficult time.
