William E. Parsons

Mason, MI

William “Sweet William” Parsons, born to Gerald and Agnes Parsons on July 29, 1928, died August 14, 2011. One of 4 children, preceded in death by Joan (Don) Carey. William married the love of his life, Sue Ann Bergeon on September 3, 1955 and was married for 53 years before she left for heaven. He served the U.S. Army in the Korean War. He worked briefly with the ICRC before starting an automotive business, Parsons Service, with his Dad in 1952. William retired in 1988 to enjoy many years with his wife and family. He was an active member of the community, especially the Fire Dept., where he served for 43 years the last 12 as Chief. He is survived by 7 children, Don (Cindy) Parsons, Dennis (Kim) Parsons, Chris (Michelle) Parsons, Jim (Sharron) Parsons, Marcia (Rick) Lahay, Laurie (Tim) Marcks, Jerry Parsons, 18 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren; sister Pat Swanson and brother Jerry Parsons. Funeral services will be held on August 19, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. James Catholic Church, 1010 S. Lansing St., Mason, MI. The family will receive friends at the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 621 S. Jefferson, Mason, MI on Thursday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Mason Fire Dept. Memorial Fund, 201 W. Ash St, Mason, MI 48854.
