Beatrice M. Bondra

Beatrice “Bea” Mary Bondra, 82, of Highland Heights, Ohio passed away with her loving family at her side on Thursday, January 9, 2014. Bea was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on May 2, 1931 to the late Mary and Leonard Geraci and the sister of Lenny and Don. She was a graduate of Gesu, Beaumont High School, and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education in 1953 from Notre Dame College. Bea taught for three years in Beachwood and 25 years in the South Euclid/Lyndhurst school system. She retired at the age of 58 and moved to Hilton Head Island. There she organized the Busy Bea Bridge Club and for 15 years she was a lector at St. Francis By The Sea Parish. She enjoyed hanging out at the golf club, eating lunch with the ladies, and cooking Italian meals for friends and family. Bea returned to Cleveland after her cancer diagnosis. She loved watching her children and grandchildren play sports. Her grandchildren were the joy and love of her life. Bea is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Dr. John Bondra. Her 5 children: Dr. John Bondra Jr. (Carla, nee Salamone); Patricia Saluan (Maurice); Kathleen Bondra; Anthony Bondra Esq; Dr. James Bondra (Susan, nee Boehlke). She is survived by her 18 grandchildren: Maurice (Danielle, nee Zaverella), Christina Moran (Pete), Matthew, Cassandra, Mark and Kimberly Saluan; Christopher, Carolyn, and Kaitlin Bondra; Johanna, Christian, and Nicholas Bondra; Katherine and Julia Petti; Gabrielle and Joseph Bondra; Scott and the late Robert Schreiber and one great grandchild, Thomas Moran. Contributions may be sent to St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105-1942 in her honor. Memorial Mass 10 am Monday January 13 at St. Francis of Assisi Church.
